October events to enjoy near Belmont Park Bridge in Alpharetta
October is here and that means lots to do in our beautiful Alpharetta, Georgia community. The Idea Specialists© at Belmont Park Bridge apartment homes have a few suggestions for you to enjoy. First off, it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we have a great event to recommend, the Fourth Annual Think Pink Weekend held at nearby Scottsdale Farms this Saturday and Sunday Oct. 5-6. The family-friendly event will feature a Pumpkin Patch, Corn Maze, and our favorite, hayrides from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There’s also face painting, live music, and a Planting Seminar with Wayne Juers, “The Plant Doc” (our green thumbs are itching to hear what he has to say) among other scheduled events. A portion of proceeds from the event including corn maze and hayride fees and all tips and donations will be used to support TurningPoint Breast Cancer Rehabilitation, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that provides unmet survivorship needs of women with breast cancer in Greater Atlanta. Better yet, all donations will be matched by the Gianturco Family Foundation. Also, this weekend on Saturday, Oct. 5, in downtown Alpharetta, make plans to attend the 14th Annual Scarecrow Harvest Festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy family entertainment that includes groovy country music, crow-cornhole, quirky face painting, historical demos, artsy activities, stimulating story-telling, and engaging inflatables. SCORE! Football Season is off and running
It’s Football season so let’s talk about Georgia’s Football, both collegiate and high school! At Belmont at Park Bridge Apartment Homes that means the Georgia Bulldogs, and our beloved Alpharetta Raiders high school varsity team. Football has a mighty hold on the South, and it starts early so let’s talk football! Currently ranked No. 3 in the nation and first in the SEC East, the Georgia Bulldogs meet the Vanderbilt Commodores this Saturday at 6:30 p.m. EDT in Nashville, Tennessee. Sure, you need to download the list of school supplies provided by your child’s school, but before you spend hard earned dollars, take an inventory of what you may already have. It’s Triple Crown Racing Season!
Our Belmont at Park Bridge Apartment Community team is especially fond of the Triple Crown, a series of three thoroughbred horse races that begin May 4 with the Kentucky Derby, a time-honored tradition, followed by the Preakness Stakes on May 18th and the Belmont Stakes on June 8th. In Celebration of National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day
There aren’t many sandwiches popular enough to have their very own National Day of recognition and celebration, but Grilled Cheese is one of them, and there are several great reasons why. Grilled Cheese sandwiches serve as one of the ultimate comfort foods, with origins in the 1920s when inexpensive sliced bread and American cheese became easily available in the United States. Originally it was made as an open-faced sandwich, with variations evolving through the years. If you’re looking to kick your grilled cheese up a notch, you’ll definitely want to try their Pot Roast Grilled Cheese. Starting out the same as their Classic Grilled Cheese – with American cheese and butter on challah bread – they add mouth-watering, slow-cooked chuck tender pot roast to make this the ultimate in gooey, beefy grilled cheese. And finally located on Windward Parkway in Alpharetta, we have the Great Harvest Bread Company. This bakery chain specializes in whole-grain breads and muffins made with Montana wheat. They also have a tremendous sandwich menu. Their take on the grilled cheese sandwich is their Groovy Grilled Cheese. This twist on the traditional sandwich features a light herb spread and sharp cheddar and Swiss cheeses on honey wheat bread. Delicious!
